Get Your Red Ready

It's already coming up next week!  National Wear Red Day is Friday, February 3rd. It is the American Heart Association's campaign to bring women around the country together in a bold beautiful way to show our participation in the "Go Red for Women" movement.  You can help be part of the mission by wearing red and talking to women in your life about preventing heart disease. You can also help the American Heart Association raise money for research and education in the fight against our number one killer.  To learn more about the campaign, check out their web site at GoRed ForWomen.org.

As part of Heart month that we celebrate throughout February, I'll be joining cardiologist Dr. Ann Jackson from St. Thomas Heart on Medical Mondays January 30th on Newschannel 5. It airs at 7 pm next Monday night on their cable station, Channel 50. (check your cable guide for details)  Dr. Jackson will talk about risk factors for heart disease, and ways we can reduce our risks. We'll also be promoting a fabulous event that's become quite popular called Revive, sponsored by Baptist Hospital that takes place next week, February 2nd, at the Hutton Hotel. This is a fun event for ladies only with tons of valuable health information along with health screenings and they always make it even more enjoyable by providing appetizers and wine!  The experts on the panel this time will cover back pain, migraines, heart health, integrative medicine, internal medicine and exercise and nutrition.

To register for this Revive Series, be sure to go to Reviveherhealth.com. There's a small fee of ten dollars, with fifty percent of the proceeds going to the American Heart Association. Get your girlfriends, co-workers or your relatives to come with you to the Hutton in Nashville on February 2nd!  I'll be there and hope to see you. It's one of the most informative health events for women I've ever been a part of, and don't forget to watch us on Medical Mondays with Kristin Priesol January 30th at 7 pm.    Stay tuned to my blog for more "Go Red" information and patient stories.
