If you ask most Americans what are they worried about, two of the most popular answers are "health and wealth." We are concerned about our financial situation and physical health. It makes sense that if you're really stressed about your finances, you may be experiencing some anxiety, and possibly health problems as a result. I think having Suze Orman speak at this year's luncheon is just brilliant. She is very well respected. If you've never seen her on television, you're missing out. She is the keynote speaker at Friday's 8th annual Go Red for Women luncheon at the Cool Springs Marriott in Franklin.
The doors open early, at 10 am, so that women can take advantage of free health screenings. As in years past, there will also be cooking demonstrations, with heart healthy recipes, and even style makeovers. After all the fun, a three course lunch will be served followed by Orman's extended presentation. We'll also hear from a very young heart transplant survivor. So this event promises to be filled with emotion and great information for busy working women as well as anyone looking for valuable heart health facts.
The facts are still startling; heart disease remains our number one killer but we have the CHOICE to change that statistic and the PASSION to speak up about it. Heart disease is still devestating the lives of so many American women. One in three women develops cardiovascular disease and this killer will claim the lives of 460 thousand women this year alone.
With this in mind, the American Heart Association has set a new goal for the year 2020, which isn't all that far away. That goal; to reduce deaths from heart disease and stroke by 20 percent. It's a tall order, so we're counting on all of you to support us in reaching it. Spread the word and go red ladies! See you tomorrow.
