Nashville resident Marvis first felt the effects of heart disease in 1994 when she had a heart attack that resulted in double bypass surgery.
In October 2003, she felt heaviness in her chest and being more alert realized something was wrong. Another blockage was discovered that resulted in triple bypass surgery.
Since her diagnosis she walks more, takes more time for herself, and doesn’t rush. Marvis and her husband, Herschel, have two children, three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Her experiences have taught her lessons that she likes to share with others: be active and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
